All rights reserved.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">When visiting Copenhagen, there are two statues that you must see.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/snappingtheglobe.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/image-101.jpeg?ssl=1\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-3109 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/snappingtheglobe.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/image-101.jpeg?resize=300%2C214&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"image\" width=\"300\" height=\"214\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/snappingtheglobe.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/image-101.jpeg?resize=300%2C214&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/snappingtheglobe.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/image-101.jpeg?w=641&amp;ssl=1 641w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>The first, located on the side of\u00a0Copenhagen City Hall Square, is the statue of Hans Christian Andersen, the famous Danish writer of plays, travelogues, novels, poems and what he is most remembered for&#8230;his fairy tales.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The bronze statue, made by Henry Luckow-Nielsen, was erected in its current spot in 1965 facing H.C. Andersen Boulevard. \u00a0The statue, depicts the writer sitting with a book. \u00a0Jump up in his lap and pretend that he is reading you one of his stories&#8230;<em>The Emperor&#8217;s New Clothes, The Ugly Duckling, Thumbelina\u00a0<\/em>and the most famous of them all,\u00a0<em>The Little Mermaid.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">And&#8230;speaking of the\u00a0<em>Little Mermaid&#8230;<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/snappingtheglobe.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/image-96.jpeg?ssl=1\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-3103 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/snappingtheglobe.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/image-96.jpeg?resize=200%2C300&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"image\" width=\"200\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/snappingtheglobe.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/image-96.jpeg?resize=200%2C300&amp;ssl=1 200w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/snappingtheglobe.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/image-96.jpeg?resize=768%2C1152&amp;ssl=1 768w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/snappingtheglobe.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/image-96.jpeg?resize=683%2C1024&amp;ssl=1 683w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/snappingtheglobe.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/image-96.jpeg?w=1320&amp;ssl=1 1320w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/snappingtheglobe.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/image-96.jpeg?w=1980&amp;ssl=1 1980w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px\" \/><\/a>Located on a rock at the water&#8217;s edge, this major attraction has drawn\u00a0thousands of tourists to this area since 1913. \u00a0A gift to the city by Carl Jacobsen of Carlsberg and designed by Edvard Eriksen, the statue lies along the Langelinie promenade but\u00a0is much smaller than one would imagine.
